Tech Action Studio proudly filmed the inspiring documentary of Kuan Seng Keng (KSK) Lion & Dragon Dance Association, showcasing the untold story of their journey to becoming an international champion. Known as a symbol of Malaysia’s pride and heritage, KSK has earned global recognition for its outstanding achievements in lion and dragon dance competitions.
Founded on January 22, 1988, by Tan Chong Hing, an amateur lion dance enthusiast, KSK faced significant challenges and skepticism. Many people at the time viewed lion dance as a trivial activity rather than a legitimate cultural organization, creating obstacles for the group’s growth. Despite these difficulties, Tan’s passion and determination paved the way for KSK’s remarkable success.
In May 1991, KSK claimed its first national championship in Johor, followed by its first international championship in Hong Kong in December 1992. By 1996, KSK had officially registered as a cultural organization, solidifying its place in the lion dance world. Over the past 27 years, KSK has achieved an extraordinary record of 70 national championships and 60 international championships, making Malaysia proud and elevating the global reputation of lion dance as an art form.
